Do I need a Virtual Assistant?
Virtual Assistant services are becoming increasingly popular and are one of the fastest growing industries in the UK at the moment.
To establish whether or not you need a virtual assistant to help either with your business or personal administrative tasks then read through these common reasons for hiring a VA:
- the work is routine and takes up valuable time
- the task or project that you need to complete won't directly generate revenue for your business
- the job is something you don't like to do, or aren't particularly trained to do
- it's cheaper to pay someone else to do it than to invest your time and energy
- you feel like you need an employee but don't want to or can't afford to pay the necessary insurances, buy additional office equipment and supplies
- you don't have the time to properly supervise or train an employee
- you need help – but not for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 12 months a year
- you need to eliminate costly overhead expenses, and would prefer to pay someone on a "project-by-project basis" rather than a full-time or part-time employee
- you’ve experienced downsizing in your organization, and cost-cutting measures have eliminated some of your support staff
- you need to invest more time in more profitable (revenue-generating) activities
- you work from home and don’t have space for an in-house Administrative Assistant
- your current employees do not possess the skill set to complete a certain task or project
New clients often ask, "I see that your service could be very useful to me, but what should I delegate?" Unfortunately, there is not a standard answer to this question but if you can go through this simple three step process you may identify which tasks you can pass on to me.
Step One - Decide what you ultimately want.
Identifying the end result you are hoping for. Don't be too specific, stay very general. Do you want more free time? Do you want to get things done that are often ignored? Do you want to make progress on certain projects?
Step Two - Make a list of tasks that will get you there.
If you want more free time, make a list of the most time-consuming tasks. If you want to stop procrastinating, make a list of tasks that you frequently put off. If you are feeling stressed, list what creates stress in your life.
Step 3 - Delegate it!
Get started by delegating what you can from the list you just made, this way you are sure to get the result you are hoping for. From there, get into the habit of delegating to me anything you don't need to do personally, you'll be amazed how much your productivity is boosted.
